Melissa with Channel 9’s Ben Fordham and Karl Stefanovic
An old high school friend, Melissa Procter, is bravely battling stage 4 breast cancer and we wanted to do whatever we could to help. So I was delighted to be part of a working team behind a fantastic cocktail fundraiser event called “Together we can make a difference”.
From the northern beaches of Sydney, Melissa, a young mother of 3 sons (ages 7, 5, and 3 years), was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. After numerous invasive treatments she was given the all clear. Tragically, in November 2016, Melissa’s cancer had returned in her bones.
Melissa’s biggest fear is not being there to see her sons grow up, which is every mother’s worst nightmare. Moreover, she fears for her husband, who would be left to try and work to support the family as well as raise the three boys on his own.
Deeply saddened by Melissa’s plight, a group of Melissa’s friends and family wanted to make sure we did everything we could to take away any financial pressure from her medical expenses and allow the young family to make some fantastic memories together.
The “Together we can make a difference” fundraising event was held just over a week ago at Sydney’s, Doltone House and the 300 guests who attended had a terrific night. The event was MC’d by Channel 9’s Ben Fordham and the Today show’s Karl Stefanovic joined in the fun too. The Treysta team hosted some clients and they kicked up their heels on the night.
We are so proud to share that the event raised $65,000 which is truly magnificent and exciting! This is a significant contribution to the overall target of $150,000 we hope to raise for Melissa through gofundme.
